The site of the present school was donated by the Crowe family of Moanvaun, Cappawhite. The original structure was an L- shaped building divided into a girls' and boys' school. Each school had two classrooms, one large room and one smaller room. The first pupils moved into the school on February 2nd 1897.
The building continued to be the place of education until 1964, when a major refurbishment took place. Internally, the building now had five classrooms with added cloakrooms and toilets.
During 1997 Cappawhite N.S. celebrated its centenary. Many events were held, including a children's concert and Sports Day. The school also hosted a photographic exhibition of days past in Cappawhite. Many visitors travelled from far and near to experience some fond memories of Capppawhite N.S.
In 2002 Cappawhite N.S. had a complete make over with the building on of 5 new classrooms. The old school was remodelled and now boasts a multi-purpose room ,resource room ,staff room ,secretary's office ,library, principal's office and wheelchair accessible shower room. The staff and pupils moved into this state of the art facility in April 2002.
